INGREDIENTS:
- Boiled Channa (chick pea or bengal gram) - 2 1/2 cup
- Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
- Cloves - 2
- Finely chopped red onion - 1
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Slit green chilies - 1
- Finely chopped tomatoes - 1
- Tamarind paste - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp)
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp)
- Channa (chick pea or bengal gram) masala powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp) (optional)
- Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
- Water - 2 cups
- Salt - to taste.
PREPARATION:
- In a pan heat oil, add cinnamon stick and cloves. Then add the onions, green chili and cook until onion turns light brown.
- Now add the ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder for few minutes.
- Now add the tomatoes and cook until oil separates.
- Now add Chili powder, Coriander powder , Cumin powder and Channa (chick pea or bengal gram) masala powder and cook for few min.
- Now add the tamarind and sauté for a minute. Add water and salt and bring to boil.
- Simmer and cook until the gravy becomes thick.
- Now add the boiled channa and bring to boil. Add coriander leaves then remove from heat and serve.
NOTES:
- To make boiled Channa (chick pea or bengal gram), soak them overnight and pressure cook them for 2 whistle or just boil them in a pan until well done.
