INGREDIENTS:
- Potatoes - 300 grams
- Onion - 150 grams
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Hot green chili - 4
- Coconut milk - 1/4 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp)
- Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Uluttam paruppu (split black gram) - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Oil - as needed
- Salt - as needed
- Curry leaves (optional ) - 5
PREPARATION:
- Clean, skin (optional) and cut potatoes into 1 inch cubes.
- Cut onions, ginger, garlic and hot green chili into fine pieces.
- Boil and cook the potatoes with coconut milk, turmeric powder and salt. (add water if needed)
- In a pan heat oil, add mustard seed, once it start to splatter add Uluttam paruppu (split black gram) , ginger, garlic, hot green chili and curry leaves and cook for 2-3 min.
- Now add the boiled potatoes with coconut milk, simmer and cook until the right consistency is reached and serve.
