Soak Chickpea submerged in water overnight. Drain and boil them. Take handful of cooked chickpea and mash them and keep them aside.
Heat oil in pan. Add fennel seeds, black pepper, ginger, garlic and roast them. Now add 2 chopped onion, 2 chopped tomato and roast them. Cool this to room temperature and grind them to a fine thick paste.
In a pan heat oil. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves and sauté. Now add 2 chopped onion and sauté until they turn translucent.
Now add ground masala paste and sauté.
Now add the chili powder, garam masala powder, channa masala powder and sauté.
Now add cooked channa, salt, water as needed and bring to boil.
Now add the channa paste and cook until oil starts to separate or to you thickness preference.
