INGREDIENTS:
- Spinach - 1 bunch
- Split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Dry chili - 3
- Tamarind - a small piece
- Shredded Onion - 1
- Garlic - 1 cloves (optional)
- Salt - to taste
PREPARATION:
- Cook the spinach leaves by sprinkle water time to time.
- Roast split black gram, cumin seeds, black pepper, dry chili.
- In a pan add little oil. Sauté onion until onion turns golden brown.
- Grind roasted ingredients fist by adding little water as possible, now add sautéed onion, spinach, garlic, salt to taste to thuvaiyal consistency.
- In a pan heat oil; add mustard seed, pinch of asafoetida. Once the mustard seed stop splattering add this to thuvaiyal and serve.
