INGREDIENTS:
- Aval (flattened rice) - 1 cup
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Crushed cardamom - 2
- Grated coconut - 1 cup
- Ghee - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Milk - as needed
- Salt - a pinch
PREPARATION:
- Roast the aval (flattened rice) in ghee and grind in a mixer grinder to make a coarse powder.
- Now to powdered aval (flattened rice) add pinch of salt, sprinkle with milk mix well and keep it aside for 5 minutes. NOTE: don't sprinkle too much milk as when you steam it will add more mositure.
- Now layer coconut first then aval (flattened rice) back to back in the puttu maker. NOTE: should be in few layers
- Steam the puttu for 2-3 minutes or until cooked.
- Once cooked break the puttu and serve with sugar and ghee if you like it.
