INGREDIENTS:
- Vendakkai (okra) - 250 grams
- Chinna vengayam (onion) or shallots - 5
- Hot green chili - 2
- Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
- Split black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
- Curry leaves (optional) - 5
- Oil - 1/4 cup
- Salt - to taste
PREPARATION:
- Cut vendakkai (okra) into find pieces. Cut shallots, green chili into fine pieces.
- In a pan heat oil add mustard seed, Split black gram . When mustard seed start to splatter add cut shallot, green chili, curry leaves and cook until the onion turns golden brown.
- Now add the cut vendakkai (okra), salt and fry until the vendakkai loses its slime and fried well.
NOTES:
- You can sprinkle water if it gets too dry. The trick is not to make is a mash.
