Avarakkai (flat bean) poriyal recipe goes well with rice, sambar, chapatti. This recipe is village style cooked with peanut instead of coconut.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Chopped Avarakkai (flat bean) - 1/4 kilogram
  2. Roasted Peanut - 1/2 cup (with skin or blanched)
  3. Chopped onion - 1
  4. Chopped tomato - 1
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Curry leaf - 5 count
  10. Oil - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  11. Salt - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)

PREPARATION:

  1. Coarsely grind the peanut and keep it aside.
  2. In pan heat oil add mustard seeds, curry leaves and sauté until the mustard seeds stop splattering
  3. Now add onion and sauté until they become translucent.
  4. Now add tomato, avarakkai (flat bean) and sauté for 2 minutes.
  5. Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chili powder, salt and mix well.
  6. Cover with lid and cook in low heat until the avarakkai (flat bean) is cooked. NOTE: Sprinkle water if needed to avoid burning.
  7. Now add the grounded pea nut and mix well. Remove from heat and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Cooking Time:: 20 minutes
