INGREDIENTS:

  1. Kovakkai (ivy gourd) - 1/4 kilogram
  2. Urulai (potato) - 150 grams
  3. Mustard seed + split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. Curry leaf - 1 sprig
  5. Garlic - 3 clove
  6. Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Oil - 4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Thinly slice the Kovakkai (ivy gourd). Add chili powder, turmeric powder, salt. Mix well and marinate for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Thinly slice or cube the potato. NOTE: small the piece it cooks well.
  3. In a pan heat 2 teaspoon (tsp.) of oil. add mustard seeds, garlic, curry leaves and sauté until the garlic is sauteed.
  4. Now add the Kovakkai (ivy gourd) and sautae for couple of minutes..
  5. Now add the potatoes and mix.
  6. Place a lid and continue cooking. After about every 2 minute sprinkle 1 teaspoon (tsp.) of oil mix well, place lid and continue cooking until the vegetables are cooked.
