INGREDIENTS:
- Split Bengal gram - 200 grams
- Snake gourd - 200 grams
- Green chili - 2
- Onion - 1
- Coconut milk - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Curry leaves - 4
- -- For grinding into paste --
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Black pepper - 5
- Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
PREPARATION:
- Soak split bengal gram in water for 20 minutes. Drain and keep it aside.
- Clean the snake gourd and cut into small pieces.
- Cut onion and green chili into fine pieces.
- Grind garlic, black pepper, cumin seed, turmeric powder to a fine paste by adding little water as possible.
- In pan add the soaked gram, 1 cup of water and boil them.
- Now add the snake gourd and boil them.
- Now add the onion and green chili.
- Cook until gram and snake gourd is cooked. Now add the ground paste, salt to taste and cook for a minute or two.
- Now add the coconut milk and bring to boil.
- Remove from heat garnish with curry leaves and serve.
NOTES:
- Goes well with dosai, rice and idli
