INGREDIENTS:
- Plantain stem cube - 1 1/2 or 2 cup
- Split bengal gram - 1 cup
- Chopped Shallot (sambar onion) - 2
- Mustard seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Curry leaf - 8
- Salt - as needed
- Oil - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Coriander leaf - as needed
- -- To grind to paste --
- Shredded coconut - 1 cup
- Green chili - 4
- Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
PREPARATION:
- Cook bengal gram, plantain stems in pressure cooker for 4 whistle and keep it aside.
- Grind the ingredients under the section "-- To grind to paste --" coarsely.
- In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds once the mustard seeds stop splattering add curry leaves, shallot and sauté until the shallot turn translucent (golden brown).
- Now add the cooked plantain stems, ground paste, salt to taste and bring to boil.
- Now garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
