INGREDIENTS:
- Chopped Green beans - 1/4 kilogram
- Chopped Carrot - 1
- Pigeon pea - a handful.
- Chopped onion - 1
- Chopped Tomato - 1
- Dry chili - 1
- Mustard seed, split black gram - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Sambar powder - 1 + 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.).
- Oil - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Salt - as needed
PREPARATION:
- Boil and cook the green beans, salt with little water as possible.
- Cook the pigeon pea intact not mashed with little water as possible. Drain and keep to water aside.
- In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds, split black gram, cumin seeds, dry chili. Once the mustard seeds stop splattering add onion and sauté until they become translucent (golden brown).
- Now add tomato and sauté until they become mushy.
- Now add sambar powder, turmeric powder and mix well.
- Now add chopped green beans, carrot, Pigeon pea cooked water, salt and bring to boil.
- Now add salt, cooked Pigeon pea and mix well. Cook this until Kuttu (thickness) consistency is reached and serve.
NOTES:
- Kids and Elderly will like this better than sambar.
