INGREDIENTS:
- Blanched roasted peanut - 3/4 cup
- Shredded coconut - 1/4 cup
- Dry chili - 3 or to your spice level
- Tamarind - little
- Mustard seed - 3/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Spit black gram - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Curry leaves - a sprig
- Oil - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Salt - to taste
PREPARATION:
- Grind peanuts, coconut, dry chili, tamarind and salt with little water first. then add water as needed and grind them to a smooth paste (chutney consistency)
- In a pan heat oil. add mustard seeds when they star to splutter. Add split black gram, curry leaves.
- Once the curry leaves stop splattering add this to the ground paste (chutney) and serve.
NOTES:
- if you are using raw peanut roast them and remove its skin to some extent.
- Goes well with idli, dosai, upma.
