INGREDIENTS:

- Yogurt - 1 cup
- Garlic - 1 whole
- Ginger - 1 piece (1 inch)
- Coriander leaves - a hand ful
- Curry leaf - little
- Green chili - 2
- Clove - 4
- Lemon - 1/2
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Black pepper powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Salt - as needed

- --- For Biryani -----
- ----------------------------------
- Raw rice (basmati or Seeraga Samba) - 1/2 kilogram
- Chicken leg piece (drumstick) - 4
- Chopped Onion - 3
- Chopped Tomato - 3
- Ginger garlic paste - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Coriander leaves, mint leaves - a handful

- ----- For tempering -----
- ---------------------------------------
- Cinnamon stick - 2 pieces
- Bay leaf - 2 count
- Clove - 2 count
- Cardamom - 2 count
- Star anise - 2 count
PREPARATION:
- Measure the rice in cup so its easy to add water later.
- Grind all the ingredients under section "-- To Marinate the chicken --" except yogurt into fine thick paste. Mix this paste with yogurt. In a bowl add chicken pieces, yogurt paste. Mix well and marinate it for minimum 3 hours. Now deep fry them in oil until they are cooked 3/4th.
- In a pan or pressure cooker heat oil, Now add all ingredients under the section "----- For tempering -----" and sauté.
- Now add chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent (golden brown).
- Now add coriander leaves, mint leaves and sauté them.
- Now add chopped tomato and sauté until they become mushy.
- Now add ginger garlic paste, Chili powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder, and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
- Now add the fried chicken and sauté for couple of min until its well coated.
- Now add for 1 cup of rice 1 1/2 cup of water and bring to boil.
- Now add the rice and cook. Cook until rice is cooked. if you prefer cook in dum for another 10 to 15 minute and serve.
NOTES:
- Goes well with raitha.
