INGREDIENTS:
- Foxtail millet - 1/2 cup
- Chopped onion - 1
- Chopped green chili - 1
- Curry leaf - 1 sprig
- Turmeric powder - a pinch
- -- For Tempering --
- Mustard seed - little
- Cumin seed - little
- Split black gram - little
- Split bengal gram - little
- Asafoetida powder - a pinch
- Oil - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Salt - as needed
PREPARATION:
- Dry roast the foxtail millet.
- In pan heat oil, add all the ingredients under the section "-- For Tempering --"; once the mustard seeds stop splattering add onion, green chili, curry leaves, little salt and sauté until the onion turns translucent.
- Now add 2 cups of water, turmeric powder, salt and bring to boil. Once boiling well add foxtail millet and bring to boil.
- Simmer and cook until the millet is cooked and serve.
NOTES:
- if you want this to cooked soft like rice add more water.
