INGREDIENTS:
- Chopped Capsicum - 1
- Mustard seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Split Bengal gram - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Split black gram - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Dry chili - 3
- Asafoetida powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Tamarind - little
- Shredded coconut - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon (tsp.) + 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Salt - as needed
PREPARATION:
- Heat 1 teaspoon (tsp.) of oil. add mustard seeds once it stop splattering. add dry chili, split Bengal gram, split black gram, asafoetida powder and sauté until the grams become golden brown.
- Now add the chopped capsicum and sauté until the capsicum is sautéed and keep it aside.
- Now grind the sautéed capsicum, coconut, salt in grind a thick paste (thuvaiyal) by adding water if needed.
- In a pan heat 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.) of oil. Add the ground paste and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes and serve.
NOTES:
- Tempering at the end is optional. if you are follow diet you can skip coconut.
