INGREDIENTS:
- Jackfruit seed - 1/2 kilogram
- Chopped Drumstick (about an inch or 2 inch) - 2
- Pigeon pea - 1 cup
- Chopped Onion - 2
- Chopped Tomato - 2
- Chopped Garlic - 5 clove
- Slit Green chili - 2
- Curry leaf - 1 sprig
- Coriander leaf - 1 sprig
- Tamarind - 1 gooseberry size
- Chili powder - 1 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Oil - as needed
- Salt -as needed
PREPARATION:
- Cook the jackfruit seeds by adding salt, water as needed.
- Pressure cook the pigeon pea, turmeric powder by adding water as needed to a mash. i.e. mushy and completely cooked.
- Soak the tamarind in water and get a thick juice.
- In a pan heat oil. Now add mustard seed once the mustard seed stop splattering add onion, curry leaves, green chili, garlic and sauté until the onion turns translucent.
- Now add tomato, drumstick, salt and sauté until the tomato becomes mushy and sautéed well.
- Now add tamarind juice, chili powder, water as needed and cook until the drumstick is cooked.
- Now add the cooked dal, cooked jackfruit seeds and cook for few minutes. Before you remove from stove (heat) garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
