In a pressure cooker add pigeon pea, turmeric powder, coriander powder, asafoetida powder, chopped tomato, chopped onion, slit green chili, cumin seeds, salt as needed, 2 tumbler water and pressure Cook this for couple of whistle so that we can mash them well. remove from heat and when the pressure is released mash them with masher.
In a pan heat oil add mustard seeds, garlic cloves, curry leaf and sauté until the mustard seeds stop splattering and garlic turns golden brown.
Now add this to mashed pigeon pea. Mix well and serve with idly.
