INGREDIENTS:
- Mutton - 1/4 kilogram
- Shallot (small onion) - 150 grams
- Dry chili - 4 or 5
- Black pepper powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- -- For Tempering --
- Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Spit black gram - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Curry leaf - from 1 sprig
- Salt - to taste
PREPARATION:
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, fennel seeds, spit black gram. Once the mustard seeds stop splattering add curry leaves, dry chili until the dry chili turns brown.
- Now add shallots and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Now add the mutton, turmeric powder, salt, 2 tumbler of water. Pressure cook this until the mutton is cooked. NOTE: mutton will be dry. if not cook it until all the water evaporates.
- In a pan heat oil add the cooked (dry) mutton, black pepper, curry leave and sauté for couple of minutes and serve.
NOTES:
- Goes well with sambar rice.
