INGREDIENTS:
- Goat or lamb trotter (feet) - 8 legs
- Onion - 2
- Tomatoes - 2
- Ginger paste - 2 teaspoon (tsp)
- Garlic paste - 2 teaspoon (tsp)
- Garam masala powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
- Ground black pepper - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Coriander powder - 3 teaspoon (tsp)
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
- Hot Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Oil - 2 tablespoon (tbsp)
- Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
- Curry leaves (optional) - 5
- Hot green chili - 2
- Grated coconut - 4 teaspoon (tsp)
- Cashews - 8
- Salt - to taste
- Maida flour - 2 teaspoon (tsp)
PREPARATION:
- Cut onion, tomato and coriander leaves into small pieces.
- Grind shredded coconut , Cashews into a paste. Add little water as possible.
- Mix well Maida flour and mutton trotter well and keep it aside for 1/2 hour.
- In pressure cooker add 3/4 of cut onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves. Add ginger and garlic paste as well.
- Now wash the mutton trotter and add to the pressure cooker and cook until it boils. Once it boils cover it with the cooker lid and pressure cooker for 2 whistle or until the bones cooked well (1/2 to 45 minutes). Remove the cooker from the fire.
- Wait for the pressure to go away. DONT OPEN THE COOKER WHEN THE PRESSURE IS STILL THERE.
- Now add the coconut and cashew ground paste. Place the cooker on heat and simmer and cook for 15 min to 30 min until the raw smell of coconut goes away and reaches a thick soup consistency.
- In a different pan heat up oil add cut onions, curry leaves and cook until curry leaves spatter. Now pour this mixture into the cooker salna.
NOTES:
- Instead of pressure cooker you can cook in a pan, if so simmer in medium heat and cook this. This salna (paya) is good to eat with chapatti, idiyappam, appam, dosai, rice.
