INGREDIENTS:
- Rice - 2 cup
- Shredded coconut - 1 cup
- Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Asafoetida powder - a pinch
- Split bengal gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Dry chili - 4
- Curry leaf - 5
- Oil - 5 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Salt - to taste.
PREPARATION:
- Grind rice to coarse like rava.
- Heat oil in a pan; add mustard seeds, bengal gram, black gram, curry leaf, asafoetida power, dry chili (broken into pieces) sauté until mustard seed stop splattering.
- Now add 3 1/2 cup water, salt to taste, coconut and bring to boil.
- Now add rice slowly, stir until it the rice get thick (like upma). Remove from heat and cool it down.
- Make balls with the rice upma. In a idly cooker steam these balls and serve.
