INGREDIENTS:

  1. Fish pieces - 1/2 kilogram
  2. Tamarind - lemon size
  3. Dry chili - 15
  4. Coriander seed - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  5. Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Black pepper - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Raw rice - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.) or as needed.
  10. Chopped onion - 2
  11. Garlic clove - From 2 Whole garlic
  12. Chopped tomato - 2
  13. Oil - as needed.
  14. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak the tamarind in water and take thick tamarind juice.
  2. Roast individually dry chili, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, raw rice. Once cooled to room temperature grind them all together to fine thick paste by adding water as needed.
  3. In a pan heat oil. now add onion, garlic, tomato and sauté until they become translucent (golden brown) and tomato becomes mushy.
  4. Now add the ground paste, turmeric powder and sauté until oil separates.
  5. Now add the tamarind juice, salt, water as needed and bring the kuzhambu to boil. Cook the kuzhambu until ti thickness
  6. Now add the fish pieces and let it boil once and remove from heat.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with white rice, idli, dosai.
