INGREDIENTS:
- Fish - 1/4 kilogram
- Tamarind - 1 lemon size
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
- -- Grind to a Paste--
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Garlic - 8 cloves
- Chili powder - 1 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Coriander powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Shallot (sambar onion) - 10
- Tomato - 1
- -- For Tempering --
- Finely chopped onion - 1
- Fenugreek seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Curry leaf - handful
- Oil - as needed
PREPARATION:
- Grind ingredients under section "Grind to a Paste" to a fine paste by adding little water as possible.
- Soak tamarind in 1/2 cup of water and take juice.
- Now add ground paste to the tamarind water, turmeric powder, salt, add water as needed. NOTE: water depends on the amount of curry you need.
- In a pan heat oil, add mustard seed, cumin seed, fenugreek seed once the mustard seed stop splattering. Now add curry leaf and sauté for 30 seconds.
- Now add onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
- Now add the tamarind mixture and bring to boil. Boil and cook until the raw smell is gone
- Now add the fish, Place a lid, simmer and cook for 5 minutes or when oil raises.
