INGREDIENTS:

  1. Fish pieces - 8
  2. Tamarind - 1 lemon size
  3. Chili powder - 4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Onion - 4
  6. Slit green chili - 5
  7. Coriander leaf - 15
  8. Ginger paste - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Garlic paste - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. -- Grind to powder --
    1. Coriander seed - 4 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Cumin seed - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Clove - 4
  11. Oil - 1/4 cup
  12. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Grind onion into a paste by adding no water.
  2. Soak the tamarind in 1/2 cup of water for 20 minutes and take thick juice.
  3. Grind the ingredients under the section "- Grind to powder --" into a fine powder. NOTE: you can dry roast, cool them and grind too.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Now add the grind onion, green chili and sauté it until they change translucent (golden brown).
  5. Now add ginger paste, garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
  6. Now add chili powder, turmeric powder, salt as needed and sauté until oil separates.
  7. Now add the tamarind juice, add water if needed and bring to boil. Cook this until oil starts to separates.
  8. Now add the fish, simmer and cook. Cook this until the fish is cooked and oil floats on the top of the curry.

NOTES:

  1. Don't boil and cook after you add fish. Fish will break down into pieces.
