INGREDIENTS:
- Shallots or small onion - 10
- Tomato - 4
- Split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Split Bengal gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Hot dry chili - 7
- Tamarind - 1 Gooseberry size
- Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
- Shredded coconut - 1/4 cup
- Garlic - 5 cloves
- Salt - to taste
- Sesame Oil or Nalla Ennai - as required
PREPARATION:
- Soak tamarind in little water. Heat 4 table spoon of oil.
- Add Split black gram, Split Bengal gram, hot dry chili and fry until they dal's turn golden brown. Remove from heat. Separate the ingredients from the oil.
- Heat the same pan (oil left from fry) add onion, garlic, tomato and cook until it becomes a mash.
- Grind the paste along with coconut, coriander leaves, salt, soaked tamarind.
- Chutney is ready to be served.
