  1. Chicken - 1/2 kilogram
  2. Chopped onion - 4
  3. Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Black pepper powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Cumin - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Curry leaf - little
  9. Coriander leaf - little
  10. Bay leaf - 1
  11. -- For Marinating --
    1. Yogurt or curd - 1/2 cup
    2. Onion - 1
    3. Green chili - 2
    4. Ginger garlic paste - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  12. Oil - as needed
  13. Salt - as needed


  1. In a bowl add chicken pieces.
  2. Grind onion, green chili under the section "-- For Marinating --" to a thick paste. add this to chicken pieces. add yogurt or curd, ginger garlic paste from "-- For Marinating --" section . Mix well and marinate for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. add cumin seeds, bay leaf and sauté. Now add onion and sauté until they turn translucent.
  4. Now add chili powder, turmeric powder, gram masala powder and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
  5. Now add the marinated chicken, one tumbler of water. Place the cooker lid and cook the chicken.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked and before you remove from heat add black pepper powder, coriander leaves, curry leaves then serve.
