INGREDIENTS:

  1. Chicken pieces - 500 grams
  2. Chopped Onion - 2
  3. Chopped Ginger - 1 inch
  4. Chopped Garlic - 20 cloves
  5. Chopped Tomato - 2
  6. Chopped Green chili - 5
  7. Chicken masala powder - 50 grams
  8. Chili powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. Curry leaf - 8
  11. Oil - as needed
  12. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Now add onion, ginger, garlic, green chili and sauté until they are sautéed. Cool this down and grind to a thick paste. NOTE: onion will turn translucent when they are sautéed.
  2. Now add the ground paste to chicken with 3 cups of water and bring to boil.
  3. After 5 minutes add the chicken masala powder, chili powder, salt as needed and continue cooking say for 15 minutes or until the chicken is cooked. Remove from heat (stove) once the right thickness is reached.
  4. In a pan heat oil add mustard seeds, curry leaves once the mustard seeds stop splattering add this to the chicken kuzhambu. Mix well and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with rice.
