INGREDIENTS:
- Mussels - 1/2 kilogram
- Finely chopped onion - 1
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- -- To be ground to paste --
- Shallot (sambar onion) - 10
- Garlic - 3 clove
- Ginger - 1/4 inch
- Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Lemon - 1/2
- Salt - as needed
- Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Curry leaf - 1 sprig
- Oil - as needed
PREPARATION:
- Grind all the ingredients under section "-- To be ground to paste --" to a thick fine paste by adding little water as needed.
- In a pan add 1/2 tumbler of water, lemon and steam the mussels. NOTE: once the are cooked they will open up.
- Now get the meat from the steamed mussels and keep it aside. NOTE: don't get meat from the mussels which did not open it might be harmful or poisonous.
- In a pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaf once the mustard seeds stop splattering add the onion and sauté until onion turns translucent.
