INGREDIENTS:
- Shrimp (cleaned and deveined) - 1/2 kilogram
- Whole small Shallot (sambar onion) - 100 grams
- Sliced Garlic - 10 cloves
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Chili powder - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- -- For Tempering --
- Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Curry leaf - 1 sprig
- Oil - as needed
- Salt - as needed
PREPARATION:
- In a bowl add the shrimp, chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix them well. Marinate this for 30 or 60 minutes
- In a pan heat oil, add mustard seeds once the mustard seeds stop splattering add curry leaf and sauté for couple of seconds.
- Now add the garlic and sauté for 1/2 minute or until sautéed.
- Now add the shallot and sauté for 5 minutes or until sautéed.
- Now add the marinated shrimp and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes or until they are cooked then remove from heat and serve.
NOTES:
- Instead of whole shallots you can slice the shallot and use them as well.
