INGREDIENTS:
- Gram flour - 1 cup
- Wheat flour - 1 cup
- Yogurt or curd - 1/2 cup
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Carom seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Karunjeeragam (black caraway) (Nigella sativa) - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Oil - to deep fry.
- Salt - to taste
PREPARATION:
- In a bowl add gram flour, wheat flour, salt, chili powder, turmeric powder, carom seed, cumin seed, karunjeeragam, gram masala power and mix well.
- Now to the flour; add yogurt or curd, little oil, water as needed and make a soft dough as you do for puri.
- Now make small balls ( size of a lemon) from dough
- Flatten these balls to a thin disc using roller pin
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350 F. Now deep fry the flattened dough until they turn golden brown and serve.
