INGREDIENTS:
- Arainellikai (Malay gooseberry) - 10 count
- Dry chili - 8 count
- Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Fenugreek seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Asafoetida piece - pin head size.
- Curry leaf - 2 sprig
- Turmeric powder - 2 pinch
- Sesame oil - 1/4 cup
- Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
PREPARATION:
- Steam and cook the Arainellikai (Malay gooseberry) in idli pan. once cooked remove the seed.
- In a pan head oil add dry chili, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida piece, mustard seeds and roast them for about 3 minutes to light golden brown. Cool this to room temperature and grind to fine powder.
- In a pan heat oil. now add curry leaves, ground powder and sauté. NOTE: don't burn it.
- Now add the Arainellikai (Malay gooseberry) and cook for at least five minutes.
- Now add turmeric powder, salt and mix well. Cook this for 2 more minutes and remove from heat. pickle is ready to be served.
