INGREDIENTS:
- Chopped Ladies finger / Okra - 1/4 kilogram
- Chopped Onion - 2
- Chopped Tomato - 2
- Tamarind paste - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.) or for tempering
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig or for tempering
- Oil - as needed
- Salt - as needed
PREPARATION:
- Heat oil in a pan. Now add mustard seeds, curry leaves once the mustard seeds stop splattering add the chopped onion and sauté until they become translucent (golden brown).
- Now add the chopped tomatoes and sauté until they become mushy.
- Now add the chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
- Now add chopped ladies finger / okra, salt and cook for 5 minutes with lid on. After 5 minutes add the tamarind paste and stir time to time and cook until the ladies finger / okra is cooked and then serve.
