INGREDIENTS:
- Pigeon pea (red gram) - 1/2 cup
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Split black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
- Onion - 2
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
- Hot green chili - 4
- Curry leaves (optional) - 5
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 3 tablespoon (tbsp)
PREPARATION:
- In a pressure cooker add 1 or 1.5 cup of water, Pigeon pea (red gram) , turmeric powder, salt and oil. When the steam comes from the cooker put the weight and cook for 10 min.
- Cut onions, hot green chili into fine pieces.
- In a pan heat 2 table spoon of oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split black gram. When mustard seed start to splatter add the cut onion, green chili, curry leaves and cook until onion turns golden brown.
- Now add the cooked Pigeon pea (red gram) mix for 2-3 min. Remove from heat and serve.
