INGREDIENTS:
- Nandu (Crab) - 1/2 kilogram
- Chopped tomato - 1
- Chopped Shallot (sambar onion) - 25 grams
- Slit Green chili (small) - 2
- Curry leaf - 10 count
- Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Cinnamon stick - small piece
- Bay leaf - 1 count
- Kulambu (curry) powder - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Shredded coconut - from 1/4 coconut
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Garlic clove - 5
- Oil - 3 tablespoon (tbsp.)
- Salt - as needed
PREPARATION:
- Grind black pepper, garlic cloves, coconut into a fine thick paste by adding little water as possible.
- In a bowl add nandu (crab), kulambu (curry) powder, salt. Mix well and marinate them for at least 15 min.
- In a pan heat oil, add fennel seeds, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, curry leaves and sauté until they curry leaves stop splattering.
- Now add green chili, shallot (samba onion) and sautae until the onion turns translucent (golden brown).
- Now add the tomato and sauté until they beome mushy and oil starts to separate.
- Now add the marinated nandu (crab) and mix well.
- Now add the coconut paste, salt, water as needed. Cook this until the nandu (crab) is cooked and oil starts to separate.
NOTES:
- Goes well with white rice and shallot (small onion) sambar.
- Goes well with idli, dosai.
