INGREDIENTS:

  1. Chopped Green beans - 1/4 kilogram
  2. Chopped Carrot - 1
  3. Pigeon pea - a handful.
  4. Chopped onion - 1
  5. Chopped Tomato - 1
  6. Dry chili - 1
  7. Mustard seed, split black gram - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. Sambar powder - 1 + 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.).
  11. Oil - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  12. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Boil and cook the green beans, salt with little water as possible.
  2. Cook the pigeon pea intact not mashed with little water as possible. Drain and keep to water aside.
  3. In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds, split black gram, cumin seeds, dry chili. Once the mustard seeds stop splattering add onion and sauté until they become translucent (golden brown).
  4. Now add tomato and sauté until they become mushy.
  5. Now add sambar powder, turmeric powder and mix well.
  6. Now add chopped green beans, carrot, Pigeon pea cooked water, salt and bring to boil.
  7. Now add salt, cooked Pigeon pea and mix well. Cook this until Kuttu (thickness) consistency is reached and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Kids and Elderly will like this better than sambar.
