Spinach thuvaiyal recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Spinach  - 1 bunch
  2. Split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  3. Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Dry chili - 3
  6. Tamarind - a small piece
  7. Shredded Onion - 1
  8. Garlic - 1 cloves (optional)
  9. Salt - to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Cook the spinach leaves by sprinkle water time to time.
  2. Roast split black gram, cumin seeds, black pepper, dry chili.
  3. In a pan add little oil. Sauté onion until onion turns golden brown.
  4. Grind roasted ingredients fist by adding little water as possible, now add sautéed onion, spinach, garlic, salt to taste to thuvaiyal consistency.
  5. In a pan heat oil; add mustard seed, pinch of asafoetida. Once the mustard seed stop splattering add this to thuvaiyal and serve.
