INGREDIENTS:

  1. -- In the night --
    1. Left over rice - 2 cup
    2. Thick tamarind juice - 1/2 cup
    3. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
    4. Salt - as needed.
  2. -- Next day morning--
    1. Split bengal gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Finely chopped onion - 1
    3. Chopped garlic - 5 cloves.
    4. Dry chili or chopped green chili - 3
    1. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Curry leaf - 8
    3. Oil - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. A day before the preparation mix all the ingredients under section "In the night" and keep it overnight.
  2. In the morning. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, bengal gram, dry chili or green chili once the mustard stop splattering add garlic and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
  3. Now add onion and sauté until they become translucent (golden brown).
  4. Now add the rice, salt as needed and mix well. Now cook this until the raw smell is gone and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Good side dish for this rice is roasted potato.
