Tamarind rice recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Old cooked rice - 1 cup
  2. Tamarind - 1 lemon size
  3. Onion - 1
  4. Mustard seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
  5. Split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
  6. Split bengal gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
  7. Dry hot chilies - 3
  8. Salt - to taste
  9. Oil - 3 table spoon

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak the tamarind in water for 15 – 30 min. Make a thick paste from the soaked tamarind. Cut the onion into fine pieces.
  2. Mix the tamarind paste with the rice and keep it aside for 10 min.
  3. Heat oil in pan add the mustard seed,split bengal gram,split black gram, dry chilies until the mustard splatter.
  4. Now add the cut onion and cook until it turns golden brown. Now add the soaked rice.
  5. Lower the heat and simmer and cook until oil separates from the rice.
