Parboiled rice porridge recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Parboiled rice - 2 cup
  2. Curry leaf - 8
  3. Dry chili - 4
  4. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Cumin - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Asafoetida powder - a pinch.
  7. Sesame oil - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Coconut oil - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Salt - to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Break rice like rava.
  2. Heat oils in a pan; add mustard seed, cumin seed, dry chili, asafoetida powder sauté until the mustard stop splattering.
  3. Now add 5 cups of water, salt to taste.
  4. Simmer and cook this until rice is cooked well. NOTE: make sure it does not get burnt.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with rasam, butter milk.
  2. You can cook this in pressure cooker as well.
