Kodo millet (varagu) lemon recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Kodo millet (varagu) - 1 cup
  2. Water - 1 1/2 cup
  3. Lemon juice - from 1
  4. Dry chili - 2
  5. Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  6. Asafoetida powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Turmeric Powder - teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Bengal gram - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  11. Salt - to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Clean and wash kodo millet (varagu) ).
  2. Cook the kodo millet (varagu)  by adding water with ratio 1 : 1 1/4 and pressure cook it for 2 to 3 whistle.
  3. Spread the cooked kodo millet (varagu)  on the big plate.
  4. In a big pan heat 1 tablespoon (tbsp.) of oil and add mustard seed, bengal gram, dry chili, curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds stop spattering add asafoetida powder, turmeric powder. In few seconds add the lemon juice and turf off the flame immediately.
  5. Now add the cooked Varagu (kodo millet ), salt to taste. Mix well and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Eat with lemon pickle.
