Mango thokku recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Small mango - 2
  2. Mustard seed - 3/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  3. Chili powder - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  4. Asafoetida powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Oil - 4 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  6. Sugar - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Salt - 1 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)

PREPARATION:

  1. Deseed and cut the mango into small pieces.
  2. In a pan heat oil, add mustard seeds. Once mustard seeds stop splattering add asafoetida powder, mango and sauté well. Place a lid and cook for 5 minutes, remove the lid and sauté for 2 more minutes.
  3. Now add sugar, salt and sauté until they coated well and mango is cooked.
  4. Now add the chili powder and sauté for 2 minutes or until the raw chili powder smell is gone.
  5. Sauté until oil separates from the thokku and serve.
