Snake gourd pachadi recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Snake gourd - 1
  2. Green chili - 10
  3. Cumin seed - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. Garlic - 10 cloves
  5. Tamarind - as needed or a small pebble size
  6. Mustard seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Split bengal gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Curry leaf - 8
  10. Asafoetida powder - a pinch
  11. Oil - as needed
  12. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Clean and cut snake gourd into small pieces.
  2. Heat 4 teaspoon (tsp.) of oil, add green chili and roast them then keep it side to cool down.
  3. In the same pan add snake gourd. Sauté in simmering heat and cook until they are sautéed (cooked) then keep it side.
  4. Grind green chili, cumin seeds, tamarind, garlic, salt into a coarse paste. Now add the cooked snake gourd and grind until they become coarse (like shredded coconut). Transfer this to a bowl.
  5. In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds, bengal gram, black gram, asafoetida, curry leaves and sauté until the mustard seeds stop splattering. Add this to the snake gourd. Mix well and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Good to go with rice.
