Drumstick pulp masala recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Drumstick - 5
  2. Onion - 1
  3. Coconut - 1 chip or slice (சில்லு)
  4. Fennel seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Dry chili - 2
  6. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. -- For tempering --
    1. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Split black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Curry leaf - 1 sprig
    4. Oil - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Steam and cook the drumstick once the drumstick cooled down remove all the pulp and keep it aside.
  2. Grind coconut, fennel seeds, dry chili into a coarse paste by adding very little water if needed.
  3. In a pan heat oil. add mustard seed, split black gram, curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds stop splattering add onion and sauté until they become translucent.
  4. Now add the ground coconut, salt, turmeric powder and mix well. Place a lid and cook this until the raw smell is gone.
  5. Now add the drumstick pulp and sauté until oil separates then serve.

NOTES:

  1. You can do this with drumstick skin on.
