Yogurt kuzhambu recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Yogurt - as needed  (1 cup)
  2. Chopped shallot (sambar onion) - 100 grams
  3. Dry chili - 2
  4. Curry leaf - 8
  5. Salt - to taste
  6. -- grind to paste--
    1. Ginger - 1 inch
    2. Garlic - 4 cloves
    3. Black pepper - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    4. Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    5. Curry leaves - 8
  7. -- For Tempering --
    1. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Cumin seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Oil - 4 tablespoon (tbsp.)

PREPARATION:

  1. Grind ingredients under grind to paste section i.e. ginger, garlic, black pepper , cumin seeds, curry leaves without adding any water.
  2. In pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, black gram, cumin seeds once the mustard seed stop splattering add shallot (sambar onion), curry leaves, broken dry chili and sauté for 2 - 3  of minutes. Cool it down and add to the yogurt.
  3. Now add salt, ground paste to yogurt mix well and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with dosai
