Super shrimp suraikai kuzhambu recipe

Kuzhambu (curry) made with Suraikai (bottle gourd) and shrimp is a good combination with super taste. let see how to cook this kuzhambu (curry).

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Shrimp - 1/4 kilogram
  2. Suraikai (bottle gourd) - 1/4 kilogram
  3. Tamarind - 1 small lemon size
  4. Green chili - 2
  5. Chili powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Coriander powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Black pepper powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Garlic - 6 clove
  10. Onion - 250 grams
  11. Tomato - 250 grams
  12. Curry leaf - 10 count
  13. Coriander leaf - little
  14. Oil - 1 ladle (Kuli karandi)
  15. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Chop onion, coriander leaves, suraikai (bottle gourd), tomato into small pieces and keep it aside.
  2. Crush the garlic cloves.
  3. Slit the green chili.
  4. Soak tamarind in a cup of water and get the tamarind juice.
  5. In a pan heat oil. Now add crushed cloves, curry leaves and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
  6. Now add the green chili, chopped onion and sauté until the onion turns translucent.
  7. Now add chopped tomato and sauté until they become mushy.
  8. Now add the suraikai (bottle gourd) pieces, shrimp and sauté. NOTE: shrimp will release water so compensate for this when you add water.
  9. Now add chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, water as needed and bring to boil.
  10. Now add black pepper powder, tamarind juice and cook until the curry reached the right thickness and the ingredients are cooked. should take about 10 minutes.
  11. Before you remove from heat garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
