Sundakai Vatral Kuzhambu Recipe

Healthy kuzshambu this can be made with variety of vegetable vatral.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Sundakkai Vatral - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  2. Sambar Powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  3. Thin tamarind extract - 1/2 cup
  4. Rice flour - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Fenugreek seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Dry red chilies - 2
  8. Pigeon pea - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Asafoetida powder- 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. Oil - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  11. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Heat oil and add the Fenugreek seeds, Mustard seeds, Dry red chilies, pigeon pea, Asafoetida powder. Fry till the mustard starts to splutter and then add the vatral and fry in low heat for about 10 minutes.
  2. Now add sambar powder and fry for 5 minutes and then add the tamarind extract. Let it come to a boil.
  3. Now mix rice flour with 1 tablespoon (tbsp.) water and add it to the boiling mixture. Allow to cook till it becomes thick.
  4. Remove from heat and serve

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with with rice and papad.
