Potato masala kuzhambu recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Potato - 3
  2. Onion - 2
  3. Tomato - 4
  4. Dry Green pea - 1/4 cup
  5. -- For grinding to paste (batch 1)--
    1. Ginger - 1 inch
    2. Garlic - 6 cloves
    3. Chili powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    4. Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    5. Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. -- For grinding to paste (batch 2) --
    1. Coconut - 3 tablespoon (tbsp.)
    2. Roasted gram - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. -- For tempering --
    1. Oil - 1/4 cup
    2. Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
    3. Curry leaf - 7
  8. Salt - to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Clean and cut the potatoes into big pieces.
  2. Soak peas for 20 minutes, drain water and keep it aside.
  3. Finely chop onion, tomatoes.
  4. Grind coconut, roasted gram into fine paste by adding little water as possible.
  5. Grind ginger, garlic, chili powder, coriander powder, fennel seed into fine paste by adding little water as possible.
  6. In a pan heat oil, add cinnamon stick, curry leaves, onion and cook until onion turns golden brown.
  7. Now add tomato, soaked peas, potato, ground ginger .. paste, salt to taste. Sauté and cook until raw smell is gone.
  8. Now add ground coconut, a cup of water and bring to boil. Cook for 5 minutes and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with rice, bread.
