INGREDIENTS:

  1. Horse gram - 1 cup
  2. Onion - 1
  3. Tomato - 1
  4. Ginger - 2 inch
  5. Green chili - 2
  6. Garlic - 4 cloves
  7. Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Coriander leaf - 10
  10. -- Grind to powder --
    1. Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
    2. Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Coriander seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  11. Oil - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  12. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak horse gram for 4 hours, now pressure cook for 6 whistle.
  2. Chop tomato into fine pieces. Slit the green chili.
  3. Grind the ingredients under the section "- Grind to powder --" into a fine powder.
  4. Grind onion, ginger, garlic into to fine paste by adding little water as possible.
  5. Heat oil in a pan, now add cumin seed once it stop splattering add ground onion ginger garlic paste and sauté until raw smell is gone.
  6. Now add chopped tomato, slit green chili and cook until oil separates.
  7. Now add the chili powder, ground ingredients (cinnamon stick, fennel seeds, coriander seeds), salt as needed and sauté for 2 minutes.
  8. Now add the cooked horse gram and bring to boil (add water if needed). Boil for 2 to 3 on minutes then garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with chapati
