INGREDIENTS:

  1. Garlic - 1 or 2 whole
  2. Chopped Onion - 1
  3. Tamarind - a small lemon size
  4. Fresh shredded coconut - 1/2 cup
  5. Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Coriander powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. -- For Dry Roasting --
    1. Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Black pepper - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. De-skin the garlic cloves.
  2. Dry roast the cumin seeds, black pepper.
  3. Grind roasted cumin seeds, black pepper, coconut and grind to fine thick paste by adding little water as possible.
  4. Soak the tamarind in water for 15 minutes and take the tamarind juice. Add salt to the tamarind juice and mix well.
  5. In a pan heat oil add garlic, onion and sauté until garlic sautéed.
  6. Now add tamarind juice and bring the kuzhambu  to boil.
  7. Boil and cook until the kuzhambu becomes thick. Remove from heat and serve.
