Drumstick leaves kuzhambu recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Drumstick leaves - 1 cup
  2. Pigeon pea - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  3. Chopped Garlic - 5 cloves
  4. Chopped Tomato - 1
  5. Chili powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Split black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Oil - as needed
  9. Salt - as needed.

PREPARATION:

  1. Cook the pigeon pea in a pan by adding water until the pea simmer. Once the pigeon pea is 1/2 cooked add the garlic, tomato and continue cooking.
  2. Once the pigeon pea is cooked. Add drumstick leaves, chili powder and cook until the leaves are cooked without changing color.
  3. Remove from heat (stove) and mash the cooked leaves with a masher (mathu).
  4. Heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds, black gram. Once the mustard seed stop splattering add this to kuzhambu. Mix well and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Serves 2 people
  2. You can add ground coconut paste and cook the leaves.
  3. You can temper with onion vadagam instead for mustard seed and black gram.
