INGREDIENTS:

  1. Split Bengal gram - 200 grams
  2. Snake gourd - 200 grams
  3. Green chili - 2
  4. Onion - 1
  5. Coconut milk - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  6. Curry leaves - 4
  7. -- For grinding into paste --
    1. Garlic - 4 cloves
    2. Black pepper - 5
    3. Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    4. Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak split bengal gram in water for 20 minutes. Drain and keep it aside.
  2. Clean the snake gourd and cut into small pieces.
  3. Cut onion and green chili into fine pieces.
  4. Grind garlic, black pepper, cumin seed, turmeric powder to a fine paste by adding little water as possible.
  5. In pan add the soaked gram, 1 cup of water and boil them.
  6. Now add the snake gourd and boil them.
  7. Now add the onion and green chili.
  8. Cook until gram and snake gourd is cooked. Now add the ground paste, salt to taste and cook for a minute or two.
  9. Now add the coconut milk and bring to boil.
  10. Remove from heat garnish with curry leaves and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with dosai, rice and idli
